My primary area of research is Natural Language Processing. My specific interests lie in the area of figurative speech detection. Primarily, I aim to detect subtle nuances in speech, and figurative language such as humor using sarcasm or metaphor. My resarch has led me to use a variety of both classical and multimodal NLP techniques to achieve my research goals.
I currently work at the Natural Language Processing Lab at UIC and work under Dr. Natalie Parde, who is my advisor and the co-director of the NLP lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
I also have a variety of other interests, which range from creating and playing music, to teaching, reading books, and practicing martial arts. All of which I try and pursue as I make my way through a very interesting journey called life.

Deep Learning Methods
I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the MVRL at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Rochester, NY, USA.
My research consisted of feature extraction, localization, and prediction on human iris models using Deep Learning and Machine Learning techniques.
I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Computational Biomedicine Laboratory at the Rochester Institute of technology, NY, USA.
My research consisted of uncertainty quantification and model personalization for patient specific cardiac models.
I researched under Prof. Amit Dutta and Dr. Aruna Chakraborty to effectively extract three keywords from domain specific document sets. These were filtered by neural networks for better results. All of the work was done on Python (3.4.3) and MATLAB (2016b) a high level of accuracy was obtained.

I researched to enchance the way in which e-newspapers are read and utilised by a user. The research was aimed to enhance usage of an e-newspaper and also to increase the amount of details obtainable from the same source. All of the work was done in Python (3.4.3) and the results were impressive.

I worked with Dr. Amit Konar and other PhD students to use an ABB IRB 120 robot to work according to human will. Towards the end of my intern the robot was able to draw shapes, trace simple figures, and follow paths according to user input and wants.

Singer and Musician: I am a huge fan of classic rock music from the 60s. One of my major hobbies is to play the guitar and sing along. Although I mostly play covers of my favorite songs, I also like to compose my original music in my spare time.
Practitioner of Shotokan Karate: I have been practicing traditional karate and martial art since a very young age. I have a 1st Kyu belt in Shotokan Karate. Also I have studied about various other forms of traditional martial art
Orator and Public Speaker: I have been a public speaker since seventh grade. I have participated in many debates, extempores, and other competitions. Participation has ranged from intra-institute to national and international levels. I have also been the director and judge of some public speaking events in the institutions I have attended.
